Our story

What began in 2022 as a small, focused initiative has grown into a cornerstone of our community programming. Kahnawake Crossfit launched Fundamentals group classes to give new and returning athletes a structured, safe place to learn the essentials of CrossFit: movement patterns, technique, scaled progression, and the habits that support consistent training. From a passion project to a regular offering, Fundamentals remains rooted in the same values that started it — care, purpose, and thoughtful development.

Growth and structure

Originally held as occasional individual or small group sessions, Fundamentals expanded into large group monthly sessions in response to strong community interest and clear need. Today the program runs three classes a week, offering consistent, repeatable instruction that prepares participants to transition smoothly into our regular Open classes. We designed the schedule and curriculum so members can build competence and confidence steadily, without feeling rushed.

Community support and accessibility

Fundamentals benefits from sponsorship funding provided through the Community Wellness Plan of Onkwata'karihtatshera. That funding subsidizes class costs for Kahnawake residents, making the program more accessible while keeping membership rates competitive and comparable to other local options. This support aligns with our commitment to equitable, community-centered fitness programming.

Our approach

We prioritize deliberate coaching, clear progressions, and individualized attention. Each Fundamentals session is structured to teach, reinforce, and assess — ensuring participants leave with practical skills they can apply immediately. Our coaches take time to understand each athlete’s needs and adapt cues, scaling, and progressions accordingly.
